There are a lot of trees in the New Forest! And around 1,000 ancient trees have been recorded which is believed to be the highest concentration of ancient trees in Western Europe. Many were fully grown trees when the Roundheads and Cavaliers were fighting the English Civil War or even when Elizabeth I defeated the Spanish Armada. For more information click here.
Created by William the Conqueror around 1079 the forest is now a favourite destination for visitors living in the south east of England for walking, cycling and weekends with the family.
